2012 WINTER/SPRING CLASS SCHEDULE
SATURDAY JANUARY 14TH @ 1071 NOSTRAND AVENUE
BETWEEN LINCOLN ROAD & LEFFERTS AVENUE (2ND FLR)
1:00PM-2:20PM: CHILDREN/TEENS 2-17
2:30PM-3:30PM : ADULTS 18&UP
Many of you might be wondering why the name Dance With The Father Dance Camp?
Why not something cooler or normal? But that's not what I'm about, I'm about being different, but this camp is not about me, its beyond me. The name was chosen (not by Luther Vandross' hit song "Dance With My Father") but its the way I feel when I dance. I feel as if I'm dancing with God the Father, my heavenly Father. Although there's an audience in front of me, He's the one getting all the attention, I'm doing it for him, for his glory, if I ever mess up or forget a move, it doesn't matter, because, I'm dancing with the Father, the one who looks beyond my faults and sees my needs, the one who's there when I fall to pick me up.
My friend Michelle gave me the idea of starting my own dance school, I questioned the idea and then prayed about it, and agreed to give it a try.
In 2007 I had my first 7 week dance camp, it was awesome. I only had two students at the time, Dajah M. Olive and Hannah A. John. I had two beautiful young ladies come in to assist me, Debbie Baptiste and Alesia Williams. I taught praise dance, Debbie taught ballet and Alesia did African with my only adult student, Rowena Gordon and her nieces Bianca, Shorena and Sharece (those 3 volunteered their time). Dance Camp started off as a four day camp, Monday-Thursday. After the full 7weeks, we had our 1st recital. The support was great! We now have adult classes and children classes.
The students that attend Dance Camp are learning how to experience dancing with the Father. Each session, they gain a better understanding of what this camp is about. It's life changing.
